PRE-SCHOOL ROOM

Pre-School Room

3 - 4 years

Within our pre-school rooms we understand the need to get the children ready for school.

This will include planned activities that meet the individual needs of the children covering the seven areas of learning, which is a requirement from our governing body Ofsted. These areas cover communication and listening skills, social skills, numerical skills, literacy skills and understanding of the world.

Activities

School readiness is very high on the government’s agenda and we ensure that we give the children the best start to their future at school i.e: children taking reading books home to share with their carers, extending upon their numeracy and literacy skills, exploring the outside world, such as festivals and events and using carpet time to develop their speaking and listening skills.

Outdoor Learning

Beaulieu’s main park is simply across the road from the nursery. The formal gardens will help encourage discussions of the shapes and patterns that the children will discover in the natural environment which include a wild flower area, natural ponds and naturally grown maze. The children will have access to this area on a daily basis to ensure they have plenty of fresh air and exercise, utilising the playground area which includes plenty of physical exercise equipment for the children to enjoy.

Using the park environment will allow the child to explore nature trails and, will enjoy discovering the local plants and insects. This will open up great new learning experiences for them including compass skills, identifying different foliage and looking for signs of animal habitats.
